PostHeaderIcon Dark YA Blogfest #3 – Casting & Music

This is the week I was most looking forward to in the Dark YA blogfest. And, since I have a dark YA book coming out soon, I figured it was a chance to share my casting choices and my playlist for HUSHED.

CASTING

Archer – Steven R. McQueen
Out of the three main characters in HUSHED, Archer was the hardest for me to cast. Although Steven McQueen doesn’t have quite the slender build, and his eyes are the wrong color, it was ultimately his facial expressions that won me over. He does kicked-puppy and uncertain-smile so well.

Vivian – Elisabeth Harnois
Vivian was the easiest. Elisabeth is one of my favorite actresses. She plays sweet and innocent just as well as she plays vicious and manipulative…all while having the most angelic face. (And will you believe she’s like 30-something?? She still plays teenage roles and looks out of place as an adult…)

Evan – Matt Lanter
Another case of perfect facial expressions. Matt’s kind of a goofball, even in a lot of his roles. Besides that, he’s got the nice body going for him and the absolutely adorable smile.

MUSIC

Music plays a big part in my writing. HUSHED especially had an influential soundtrack, and a number of songs I listened to over and over (and over) again through various scenes.
